About AL-Falaq Academy

Yasir Shahid is the Founder and Head of Al-Falaq Academy, combining professional leadership with a sincere commitment to Islamic education and community service. He holds an MBA in International Business from the UK and works with Samsung UK.

Alongside his professional career, he has studied Qur’an translation and Tafseer and supports charitable initiatives including the Gazaili Education Trust. His vision is to provide children with authentic Islamic education and strong Qur’anic foundations.

Hafiz Noman Durrani is a Hafiz-e-Qur’an, qualified Tajweed teacher, and Imam and Khateeb with the UK Islamic Mission. With over 15 years of teaching experience, he specialises in Qur’anic Tajweed and Tafseer.

As Deputy Head and Course Lead, he oversees curriculum delivery and supports the academic and spiritual development of students across the academy.

Ubed ur Rahman Mohammed is an IT Engineer with an academic background in Marketing and IT. He previously served as President of the UK Islamic Mission Slough Branch (2024–2025) and continues to support community initiatives. He serves as an Advisory Member and First Aid Lead at Al-Falaq Academy.

Ahmed is an IT professional with over 20 years of experience across Pakistan, North America, and the UK. His career includes roles as a Hardware Engineer, IT Analyst in the oil and gas sector, and his current work within the NHS in England.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Information Technology, and a Certificate in Education from the University of Westminster. He supports the academy’s administration and operational efficiency.

Maryam Khan is an experienced educator with over 12 years of teaching experience in Primary Education in the UK. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems from Brunel University and has undertaken in-depth study of the Qur’an with Tafseer.

With a warm and nurturing approach, she is passionate about teaching Islam to children through engaging, age-appropriate learning in a supportive environment.

Dr Sidra is a distinguished educator in the Arabic Language programme. She has completed Tajweed and Hadith courses, a comprehensive Qur’anic Arabic language course in the UK, and has also studied Arabic at Madinah University. She brings a unique and insightful perspective to teaching Arabic to young learners.

Mrs Quanitha Noorain is a dedicated Islamic educator with a strong foundation in both academic and religious studies. She holds a BSc in Biotechnology and is currently pursuing Taleem-ul-Qur’an from Al-Huda Institute, and has completed Tajwīd courses from Darul Hassanah.

She teaches Basic Arabic Qawāʿid, Seerah of the Prophets, Akhlaqiyyat, and Islamic Studies, inspiring students to build a strong connection with the Qur’an and develop noble Islamic character.

Fatima Kamran is an actuary by profession and a mother of two. She has attended Tajweed courses and is currently a Tajweed student, continually striving to improve her Qur’an recitation and understanding. She is passionate about supporting young learners and assisting teachers in creating a caring, faith-focused environment.

Mrs Faiza Durrani is an active Qur’anic Tafseer member of the UK Islamic Mission (Slough). She is a first-position holder in multiple Surah Tafseer courses and regularly leads Tafseer sessions for women in the community.

She is passionate about helping Muslim women develop a true understanding of the Qur’an and is also involved in charitable initiatives focused on educating young children.

Saima Khan is a dedicated learner who regularly attends Islamic events and Qur’anic classes and is currently studying Tafseer to deepen her understanding of the Holy Qur’an. She is committed to supporting the academy’s learning environment and helping others grow in faith and character.

Mrs Anum Yasir has lived in the UK for over 15 years and is committed to Islamic learning and teaching. She regularly attends Islamic events and Qur’anic classes and is currently studying Tajwīd and Tafseer.

She is enrolled in a Level 3 Teaching Assistant course, has experience as a nursery assistant, and has completed Paediatric First Aid training. She supports engagement with parents and the wider community with sincerity and care.
